Journey With Swine Flu

0 comments Tuesday, September 01, 2009 Posted by Shashikant
Travelling in the peak period of Swine Flu and from Pune,  the epicenter  really pushed the shit out of me.  Right from my parents , colleagues, roomies  everyone were treating me as if I am the most vulnerable human at entire Pune Railway Station and Swine Flu Virus will come searching for me from distances.  N95 Mask, Nilgiri Oil, Camper, Sanitizer and loads of other things I was told to carry. We Indian are always ready to give suggestions. If someone really needs help, then we all are deaf and blind.

Before boarding I just managed to get equipped myself with normal mask and sanitizer. Hankie would be better. I counted almost double for the mask as the same was available for half rate one week before. This is how India works. People warm their hands over pyre. Well for me this was just a waste of money  because I haven’t used  any mask nor did took any precautionary measures before this.

At Pune station, the view was really amazing. The picture can qualify for the NATGEO’s most amazing and rare moments. It was nearly impossible to spot a known person. All were covered with masks. One wonders H1N1 is really such a serious issue or just a Media Mayhem? Media is the 3rd pillar of Indian democracy and still after 62yrs of Independence it’s  behaving as Adolescent.

With utmost precautions, I reached my coach. In such a terrible crowd, no precautions can save you from bloody H1N1. After reaching to my berth, I realized that this journey from Pune to Nagpur is going to be worst in my entire life. The coach was very old and was stinging like anything. Farting smell can be tolerated sometimes but not this!!!!! The remains of eatables were spread everywhere with other stuffs. In addition to this there was leakage in toilet and water from toilet was coming straight to my compartment. Pune is the just the starting station of Pune-Bilaspur Express . I started visualizing the pathetic condition of train rather mine, 12 Hrs after. I have travelled in general compartment during Diwali 3 years ago. But still that was far better.

Within few minutes I realized the reason for such condition of the coach. The people in the entire coach were Balagathis and mostly workers. I had been through this train before and the coach and crowd was superb. But this time I have been paid for acting smarter. Actually I booked the ticket from Pune to Durg as reservation from Pune to Nagpur was not available. Hence I got reservation in the coach having DURG  quota. Paying extra penny was the bad decision.

Well soon I found one friend and returned back to my berth after dinner only to sleep. The stinging smell got worse in meantime. The Balagathi women were taking their kids to toilets without sleepers. Unhygienic. The noticeable thing about them was they were taking utmost care to use their saree as their mask. Is this really going to help, with all sort of viruses clinched to it?

It was around 12.20am I spotted some weird movement on upper birth beside me under blanket with groaning. Soon I realized that this was the same newly married couple which I saw earlier sitting next to me. Balagathis too and not even 20 years old. I thought they have booked only one berth. Groaning was audible for some time and later it stopped. May be Mask  for H1N1 was used. Movements were still there but this time too clear to visualize. Within 1 minutes it became vigorous and then SILENCE AFTER THE STORM .Mostly premature ejaculation. They settled down after some more movements. Shedding and wearing clothes can be a really adventures work in train. The lady was wearing saree and hence I think it became possible for men to penetrate so easily in such a place. The only good thing happened so far to me!!!!!!

Well I tried to get down from my berth and was surprised to see that everyone in my compartment was enjoying their act. Even there was a guy near door purposely standing there. It’s really difficult to have a good sleep after such incident. I was told about such incidents before but witnessed for first time!!!!!!! Somewhere around 3 am I slept and only wakeup before 5 mins left to reach Nagpur
.
Meantime I was wearing the mask for the whole night . Not sure whether it protected me from H1N1 but definitely was very helpful in sustaining the stinging smell of coach. About sanitizer, the bottle was intact. I developed some rashes around my nose due to the mask. Again Bloody H1N1.

Before leaving the train at Nagpur I turned back to have a look at coach. I was having heavenly  feeling as I was getting off and will be free to inhale some good air finally. The condition of coach needs to be explained???

I decided to have a sutta before getting into auto to reach home. I asked for cigarette and started forming the smoke clouds. The mask was still attached to me. The owner of the shop asked

“Is this N95 mask? ”. I said no.
Then he again asked “Is this 6 layers? “ or something like that. NO, I replied.
Then we started the casual discussion regarding the H1N1. Then all of a sudden he shouted at me "Hey, you came from train right now? From where you are coming?”
I got shocked by the sudden change in his behavior. I said “From Pune”
All lines on his forhead became visible. He shouted at me “Just stay away. You should have told me this earlier”. He took a handkerchief and rolled around his face.

Meanwhile he became normal and  started speaking to me. But didn’t fail to inform whoever came there that I came from Pune and just stay away from me.

Finally while leaving I just decided to again burn is ass and asked for water. He gave. I am sure he would have disposed that bottle immediately even without touching it.

On the way to home, I was thinking how my parents, friends and relatives are going to react with me?
